Test Drive Centre now open
The Encase team were delighted to welcome John Stephen Kalmanson - President of COPI to officially open their new test drive centre at Leeds in March 2008. The event was well attended by leading buyers and included demonstrations and presentations on this latest development in the corrugated industry. The centre offers 3D graphic and constructional design using Kasemake software and sample table cutting size 2.5m x 3.5m and an oscillating cutting knife, Stora Enso performance prediction software and ECT and Box compressing testing facilities.
New equipment at Banbury
To support the growing demand for retail ready and shelf ready packaging Encase has just installed a new multi-point gluer at its Banbury site. Manufactured by Duran Makina, the Omega Bella 170 multi-point gluer enables the production of straight-line, crash-lock , 4 and 6 -point glued boxes and can convert a wide range of boards such as E,B, & C flutes as well as double-wall board. "Demand for quick erect boxes has never been greater and the need for flexibility and choice never higher" said Mike Hartley Encase's marketing and development manager. Just before Christmas 2007 Banbury also took delivery of a new fanfold machine, which at 2.5 metres, is the widest available in the UK. Only Encase has fanfold at two UK sites. The company-wide computer database supports both the Leeds and Banbury operations which uniquely gives customers the security of contingency and two-site back up as well as enabling Encase to run the same job in parallel on two sites.
New stitcher enters big box arena
A brand new Sodeme stitcher gluer was installed in October 2007 at the Leeds site, enabling Encase to truly enter the big box arena. Capable of handling very large 7m - blanks, it can stitch or glue two-piece cases in one pass and even, uniquely, at the same time. we can now make very strong big boxes or large format pallet boxes.
Encase relaunched
Encase is changing - building on almost 40 years’ success, Managing Director John Lowe – (who was formerly Operations Director at the seven DSS UK corrugated board plants and prior to that held a similar position at LINPAC Containers) has, with the full support of fellow director Ian Palmer and Chairman Hans-Christian Bøedker Jensen, put in place a new senior management team of more than 20 industry professionals.
The strategic goal is to grow UK market-share and play a much bigger role in Europe.
New identity for Encase
A completely new corporate image of Encase has now been implemented on vehicles, external and interior signage, workwear, in print and on the internet and its development recently attracted attention and featured as a case study in 'CorpComms magazine.
New faces at Encase
It’s all change inside the company too. Mike Hartley and David Hainsworth who were team players at Linpac Containers joined the company in 2007 to head up the sales-led drive for growth and have already appointed new Key Account Managers. Martin Costa has joined the company as Commercial Director. and at the same time Phil Lockwood joined as Manufacturing Director, Graham Button joined recently as Finance & Purchasing Director. All had previously worked together at Linpac Containers.
Corrugation Sheet
Just before Christmas 2007 Encase launched the first edition of a newsletter "Corrugation Sheet" which will be published at regular intervals.

New IT investment
Encase has invested in a major newly-upgraded business management system from Abaca Systems Ltd.
Designed specifically for the corrugated industry, it enables Encase to manage its production more efficiently, providing valuable real-time information for sales administrators that improves customer service and allows tighter cost control.
